1. Original Name: Grosse Verte Rose (which means 'Big Green Pink' in French).
2. History: First introduced by Secret Seeds Cartel as an old heirloom variety. They received the seeds from Madame Marie-Rose (France).
3. Plant Specifications: Early-season if there is enough light and good fertilizers are used. Perfect for growing both in a greenhouse and outdoors. Indeterminate, tall bush, growing up to 5-6 feet (150-180 cm) tall. Thick stem, regular leaf. Regular truss, 3-5 large fruits per truss.
4. Training Instructions: Pruning and staking are a must. The bush can be trained to one or two main stems. It is also recommended to remove the bottom leaves.
5. Shape and Weight: Beefsteak fruits, sometimes with shallow ribs near the stem end. Weight: 10.6-17.6 oz. (300-500 g).
6. Color: The fruits are of an intense purple and pink color with green shoulders. It is a particular feature of a gourmet tomato. The flesh is dark red.
7. Flavor Profile: Very delicious. Rather sweet and slightly tart with a bright and pleasant tomato flavor. The fruits are meaty though it is a salad-type variety.
8. Culinary Use: A good choice for fresh salads, paste, sauces and juices.
