1. Original Name: Blue Beauty.

2. History: Bred by famous tomato breeder Brad Gates of Wild Boar Farm (California, USA). A cross between Beauty King and a black tomato. Released in 2013.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. A good choice for growing in a greenhouse and outdoors. Resistant to diseases. Indeterminate, medium-size bush, growing up to 5-6 feet (150-180 cm) tall. Thick stem, regular leaf. Regular or double (in rare cases) trusses. There are 5-6 fruits per truss.

4. Training Instructions: It can be trained to one, two or three main stems. Staking and pruning are a must.

5. Shape and Weight: Salad-type beefsteak fruits. Weight: 4.2-5.3 oz. (120-150 g).

6. Color: The color is amazing! Almost black with dark crimson swirls near the stem end. The fruits mature to black with a tint of dark red and crimson. Red and crimson in a cut.

7. Flavor Profile: A pleasant and soft taste being sweet with a tomato and fruity flavor. The flesh is buttery, and the fruits are meaty and juicy enough.

8. Culinary Use: A universal variety. Perfect for eating fresh. Also a good choice for canning (juices, paste or canning whole tomatoes). The fruits keep well and can stay on the bush for a long time. They can keep for about 5 days after harvesting. The skin is not firm but there are no cracks.

Blue Beauty was released as a stable variety in 2013. To produce bright fruits, the bushes should grow in places with lots of sun. In this case, the fruits will have enough anthocyanin, which is very useful for your health.
