A very old variety, which needs to be preserved. Very delicious.
1. Original Name: Dutchman.
2. History: Introduced by Merlin Gleckler (USA) of Glecklers Seedmen as an heirloom variety back in 1958.
3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. A good choice for growing both in a greenhouse and outdoors. Thick stem, regular leaf. Regular truss, 4-5 fruits per truss.
4. Training Instructions: It is recommended to train the bush to one or two main stems. Staking and pruning are a must.
5. Shape and Weight: Salad-type beefsteak fruits with shallow ribs near the stem end. Weight: 7-14.1 oz. (200-400 g).
6. Color: Pure pink, very beautiful.
7. Flavor Profile: Sweet. The flesh is meaty, and the walls are thick. Tomato flavor but not very intense. The flesh is buttery, sandy and plum-like.
8. Culinary Use: Perfect for salads and appetizers. A good slicer. Also a good choice for juices, paste and sauces.
