1. Original Name: Hybrid Tarasenko 2.

2. History: Bred by amateur tomato breeder Feodosiy Tarasenko (village of Voronezh, Shostka district, Sumy region, Ukraine). Feodosiy Tarasenko called his varieties 'hybrids' just nominally. Today these are stable old varieties with wonderful characteristics. When breeding his varieties Tarasenko used San Marzano, a popular tomato variety. Hybrid Tarasenko 2 has become one of his most popular varieties.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. A good choice for a greenhouse and outdoors. Indeterminate, tall bush, growing up to 6.5 feet (200 cm) tall. Thick stem, regular leaf. Amazing trusses with a lot of stems having 15-25 fruits per truss.

4. Training Instructions: It is recommended to train the bush to two main stems, and staking and pruning are a must. It is also preferable to tie heavy clusters.

5. Shape and Weight: Round fruits with small pointed tips. Almost all of the fruits have two seed cavities. Weight: 2.1-2.5 oz. (60-70 g).

6. Color: Bright red.

7. Flavor Profile: Many gardeners grow Hybrid Tarasenko 2 tomatoes in their gardens because of their excellent taste and all-purpose nature. The taste is sweet, and the walls are thick and meaty. This is the taste of an old variety.

8. Culinary Use: Ideal for canning whole tomatoes, salads, freezing, sun-drying and thick sauces as well as for long-term storage. Our mother keeps growing these tomatoes in her own garden (aside from our crops) so that we could have whole tomatoes for eating fresh. We pick our mom’s Hybrid Tarasenko 2 tomatoes before the weather gets cold, put them in boxes to ripen after harvest and eat tomato salads in October and November. These fruits keep and transport very well and their taste remains unchanged during storage.
