1. Original Name: Indigo Apple.
2. History: Bred by Brad Gates of Wild Boar Farms (California, USA). It originated from a cross between Indigo Rose and an unknown small red tomato.
3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. A good choice for growing both in a greenhouse and outdoors. Indeterminate, medium-size bush, growing up to 5-5.5 feet (150-170 cm) tall. Medium-thick stem, regular leaf. Regular truss, 5-6 fruits per truss.
4. Training Instructions: The bush can be trained to two or three main stems. Pruning and staking are a must.
5. Shape and Weight: Salad-type beefsteak fruits. Weight: 5.3-7 oz. (150-200 g).
6. Color: A bright and attractive color. The fruits are of an intense anthocyanin color near the stem end and blood red in the upper part. Red in a cut with gel-like sac of a lighter color in seed cavities.
7. Flavor Profile: A pleasant well-balanced taste being sweet and slightly tart. An exotic and tomato flavor. The flesh is soft, buttery and juicy.
8. Culinary Use: Delicious in summer salads. Fresh blue tomatoes are good for your health. The fruits do not keep well after harvesting. Juicy. Crack-resistant.
It is a stable and very beautiful variety. If the sun is bright, your fruits will be of a bright and intense black and blood red color. Perfect for those who love eating exotic fruits.
