2. History: Many tomato breeders name this variety as 'Peach Blow Sutton' but this is incorrect. It was introduced by Sutton and Sons Seed Growers in 1897. It became less popular in the course of time. But in the late 1990s tomato breeder Craig LeHoullier received the seeds from the USDA for the purposes of growing.
He discovered the official number of this variety and its name being 'Peach Blow, Sutton', which means that the name of the seed company was added to the name of the variety after the comma. The comma was later omitted thus producing a new name, Peach Blow Sutton. This exotic tomato was named after a style of Victorian era glassware (Peach Blow) known for its peach skin appearance.
3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. A good choice for a greenhouse and outdoors. Indeterminate, tall bush, growing up to 6.5 feet (200 cm) tall. Thick stem, regular leaf. Regular truss, 3-5 fruits per truss.
4. Training Instructions: It can be trained to two or three main stems, and staking and pruning are a must.
5. Shape and Weight: Round fruits being slightly elongated at the top and thus resembling apples. In fact, they do look like red apples from far. Many of the fruits have ribs showing the number of seed cavities. Weight: 5-7 oz. (150-200 g).
6. Color: Light pink with yellow and orange spots at the mature-green stage. When fully ripe, the fruits turn rather pink resembling the soft and beautiful color of ripe peaches. The skin is slightly fuzzy and matte (not glossy).
7. Flavor Profile: Intense and tart taste. Very sweet with pleasant and refreshing tartness. Nice tomato flavor. However, when you look at its photo you cannot believe that this fruit will smell like a tomato. The walls are thick and the flesh is juicy and soft.
8. Culinary Use: Perfect for fresh salads, sauces, ketchup and juices. Treat your friends to this tomato! But let them guess what it is before they taste it.
