A sister to famous Green Zebra! Sweet and flavorful.
1. Original Name: Black Zebra.
2. History: Bred by tomato breeder Jeff Dawson (https://www.facebook.com/jeff.dawson.520). A cross between Green Zebra and a black tomato.
3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. Perfect for growing outdoors. Indeterminate, tall bush, growing up to 6.5 feet (200 cm) tall. Thick stem, regular leaf. Regular truss, 5-7 fruits per truss.
4. Training Instructions: The bush can be trained to two or three main stems. Pruning and staking are a must.
5. Shape and Weight: Round and smooth fruits. Weight: 2.8-3.9 oz. (80-110 g).
6. Color: Dark brown and brick-red with swirls of dark green stripes. Red and brown in a cut.
7. Flavor Profile: Sweet and slightly tart, very flavorful with a fruity and spicy aftertaste. The flesh is rather sugary and soft, and the walls are thick.
8. Culinary Use: A good choice for fresh salads, sauces and canning. Keep well for a few days after harvesting. No cracks on the skin.
Black Zebra has proved to be a stable variety. It is an amazing heavy cropper producing fruits until a frost. Resistant to diseases and heat tolerant. A perfect addition to the Zebra line.
